Participant Reviews
In Their Own Words
Siriporn Kasemwong
Retired teacher, Bangkok
"I attended the First Steps programme in March and found it genuinely useful. What I appreciated most was that the facilitator never made me feel foolish for asking basic questions. I had been putting off learning about this for years because every other source seemed designed to sell me something. This did not feel that way at all."

Prasert Thammasung
Self-employed, Nonthaburi
"The Social Security workshop was very helpful for understanding voluntary contributions. I wish it had been longer — two sessions felt a little short for everything covered. That said, the printed reference card is something I've referred back to three or four times since attending in April. Good investment of a day."

James McAllister
British-Thai household, Bangkok
"My wife and I attended the cross-border programme together. It opened conversations we had been quietly avoiding for years — about property in both countries, about what happens if one of us returns home. The facilitator covered these carefully, without alarm. We left with questions we now know we need to take to a lawyer and a tax adviser. That is the right outcome."

Wanida Namwong
Marketing director, Bangkok
"I had been meaning to understand mutual funds for years. The First Steps programme gave me the vocabulary and enough context that I could finally have a useful conversation with my bank's investment desk — rather than nodding along without knowing what they were actually recommending."
March 2025
Chaiporn Pattana
Small business owner, Chiang Mai
"Attended the Social Security workshop while visiting Bangkok. As someone who has been self-employed for twelve years, the SSO had always felt like something for other people. This was the first time I properly understood what voluntary contributions would mean for me. I came to Bangkok for this specifically — worth the trip."

Annemarie Vos
Dutch national, long-term resident
"I attended both the First Steps programme and the cross-border weekend over the past year. The investing foundation programme gave me the language I needed; the cross-border programme gave me the specific framework for my situation. I returned because the first experience had been genuinely useful, not because I felt obliged."

Longer Participant Journeys
These accounts describe what participants came with, what they engaged with, and where they arrived — in their own terms.
The Starting Point
Ratchanee, 47, had a savings account and a workplace provident fund she had never properly looked at. She had attended two investment seminars at her bank, left both times confused, and eventually stopped trying to understand. She came to the First Steps programme expecting to be confused again.
The Sessions
Over four sessions, Ratchanee worked through the basics of what she actually held in her provident fund, what the difference between equity and fixed-income allocation meant in practice, and what a reasonable time horizon looked like for someone her age with her situation. She asked about seventeen questions across the sessions, she counted.
Where She Arrived
Six months after the programme, Ratchanee reviewed and adjusted her provident fund allocation for the first time in four years — a decision she made herself, after consulting the fund documentation. She later attended the Social Security workshop.
"I stopped feeling that this subject was something other people understood and I didn't."
The Starting Point
David and Somjit had been together for eleven years, with properties in two countries and savings in three currencies. Neither of them had a complete picture of their combined financial situation. David's retirement planning had been done in the UK; Somjit's Thai SSO contributions had lapsed when she became self-employed.
The Sessions
The cross-border weekend gave them a shared framework for discussing their situation. Topics covered included what currency risk meant for their savings split, the general considerations of property across two jurisdictions, and what a household conversation about these arrangements might reasonably include.
Where They Arrived
They left with a list of questions to take to a Thai tax adviser and a UK IFA. Somjit researched reinstating her voluntary SSO contributions. They have since had the family conversation about property they had been postponing for three years.
"The sessions gave us a common language for a conversation we had been having separately, in our own heads."

A Note on These Accounts
The reviews and case studies on this page were collected from participants via written evaluation at the close of their programmes. Names and some identifying details have been lightly adjusted with participants' agreement. No review has been written or substantially edited by Saen Wealth staff.
Not all evaluations are positive. Where participants noted things that could have been done better, those notes are read by the facilitator team and used in programme development. The overall satisfaction score of 4.7/5 reflects all responses collected in 2024–2025, not a curated selection.
